Dometic Fridge Test Display for Series 8000 AES Fridges

A simple but effective way to test if the display or ribbon cable for a Dometic AES fridge is broken. It can also be used as a simple way to run or test the main PCB without the display on the bench.

It is a fully functional, mini, display.  You can see the RUN and ERROR lights, control the temperature up and down, change modes and see the normal display characters.

If you have a problem with your fridge operation and fit this to the main PCB and everything works, it indicates that you have a problem with either the display PCB or ribbon cable.  Note that the ribbon cable only works with the Apuljack Display because the original is non replaceable.

Alternatively, you can test the main PCB out of the fridge by giving it power and connecting this Test Display board.

Another use is for owners to keep in a drawer in case of emergencies so they can still run the fridge if the display or ribbon breaks.

Fitting is super easy, simply unplug the 16 way display ribbon from the main PCB, and plug the Test Display board connector in its place with the purple circuit board pointing towards you.

Burner Control Device Tester

The Apuljack BCD Tester allows the Burner Control Device (BCD often referred to as the 'Sparker') to perform a normal gas start on the fridge.  If a fridge does not work on GAS then this could be due to either the main PCB or the BCD but it is impossible to tell.

This tester is completely independent from the other electronics of the fridge and can be used to run the BCD separately and hence test that it functions.  This tester is entirely powered from your mobile phone (or a power bank) via USB. This allows easy diagnostics of the BCD without the reliance of any 12V or fridge circuits!  In fact, you can run the whole fridge on gas without ANY electrics in the entire vehicle!

The device is easy to use, simply unplug the 3-way BCD loom (Violet, White and Black wires) from the main PCB and plug it on the BCD tester.  Then plug it into your phone/power pack.  The tester has a power LED to show that it is being powered.  There are then 2 other LED's - the first IGNITION/RUN lights when the BCD is either sparking or lit.  If the BCD does not manage to light the gas, then the 2nd red LED will light.
